Orintha shares nearly 40 years of equine experience through her training programs and daily presence at Ten Broeck Farm. That experience serves as the foundation of her professional philosophy: to base her business on integrity, strive for excellence, and treat every student with fairness and dignity. Equally as important, she fosters mutual respect with every horse, recognizing each for its athletic abilities and special training needs. Orintha has an educated eye and understands young horses, and that translates into the special skills needed to start them.

Orintha’s equestrian background includes many years with 4H, Pony Club and studying classical dressage coupled with countless hours in the saddle with notable trainers, including; Pam Goodrich, Barend Heilbron, Kathy Connelly, Sharon McCusker, Mary Howard, Dee Loveless, Vern Batchelder, Mette Rosencrantz, Sylvia Loch from England, Frenk Jespers from Holland and Dr. Christian Schacht from Germany.

Orintha currently trains with Paige Finnegan. Paige is an international Grand Prix trainer and is a USDF bronze, silver and gold medalist. She is especially talented with young horses and has trained several from start to FEI. Paige teaches and travels from Ten Broeck Farm.

Through perseverance and hard work, Ten Broeck Farm is the fulfillment of Orintha’s lifelong dream to own her own equine business. Together with her husband, Phil, Orintha has built Ten Broeck Farm into a respected facility exemplifying equine excellence. It has become the premier equine event center in the area. Recognizing the benefits of mentoring young people, she has developed a top-notch internship program that teaches a young person about the equine business from two main perspectives: on the ground and in the saddle.

Orintha’s passion is training and her style promotes the best possible partnership between horse and rider. She accomplishes this with excellent communication skills, equestrian expertise, natural intuition, and a strong desire that trainer, student, and horse mutually love the experience.

Felisberto “Phil” Silva has been working with horses for 25 years. His passion for training and proper handling translates into remarkable performances by horses and ensures their safety. Phil has a fine reputation throughout the industry for reliable transportation and professional handling services at shows and inspections. As a result, owners, breeders and riders continue to trust Phil with their champion horses.

Phil has an innate understanding of how to work a horse from the ground and is always teaching how that work can significantly improve a person’s riding and overall relationship with each horse.

Phil has long recognized the need for more mentoring of young equestrians so that they can learn about the world of sport horse breeding, showing, and handling. With the support of Dressage4Kids, Phil helped launch an exciting curriculum to address this void. In fact, the Young Breeder’s Sport Horse Educational Program held its debut clinic at Ten Broeck Farm in November 2010. Today, Phil continues to work on promoting and expanding the program, and providing his services as a clinician.

When at home, the equestrian business that he and his wife, Orintha, established on 14 acres continues to grow through knowledge, hard work and loving what they do. Their enthusiasm is contagious. Phil offers continuous support to clients, equine neighbors and interns. He is Orintha’s eyes on the ground and together, they develop the young sport horses of today into the champions of tomorrow.

Anxious to finally have control over her own professional destiny, Marcia established and ran her own marketing communications business for 12 years. Having never ridden a horse other than once at a dude ranch in Colorado, it was a surprise when, at the young age of 60, she was given a riding lesson with Orintha Silva for a birthday present. The rest is history. Marcia is the co-owner of Nike, a Dutch Warmblood gelding and, she claims, “the most handsome fellow on the farm.” Marcia’s other passion is hospice volunteering. She lives in Hollis, NH.
