The Sporthorse Science & Handling Academy was created to elevate the importance of the entire equine lifecycle. Creators Dr. Christian Schacht and Phil Silva are dedicated to the continuous development of a program that provides an educational forum as well as qualified instruction to help equine enthusiasts of any age fully appreciate the horse from conception to retirement.

The Academy focuses on education in conformation, breed(ing) considerations, free jumping and working on the triangle while providing valuable guidance and inspection preparation for owners, breeders, trainers and riders.

CO-FOUNDERS & CLINICIANS

Dr. Christian Schacht
Dr. Christian Schacht is well known literally round the world. He has led rankings for several years in both Dressage and Combination in student rider divisions, including two German championships. He is an excellent lecturer and instructor who appeals to equestrians of all ages and disciplines. This prominent German veterinarian, breeder, trainer and riding instructor also holds the prestigious position of Breeding Director for the International Sporthorse Registry and Oldenburg Registry North America. In addition to judging at ISR/Oldenburg inspections, he uses his profound expertise in Germany as a licensed dressage and jumping judge.

Phil Silva
Phil Silva is a professional handler who has been working with horses for 25 years and is well known along the entire East Coast for his expertise in ground work. His passion for training and proper handling translates into remarkable performances by horses and ensures their safety. Owners, breeders and riders continue to trust Phil with their champion horses.
